Here we go!
Here we go! We are back in Texas to finish our cross country ride to raise money and awareness for MS. As a reminder, we had finished 1900 miles in the first 19 days and we’re about to cross into Louisiana on the 20th day when I was hit by a truck and had a setback. All back in place now and we are prepared to finish up over the next 10 days. The ride will finish up in St Augustine, Florida and will finally complete the 2950 mile journey. Some bullet points to start:
1. Tell your friends about the blog and keep promoting the donations as we aim for our goal for Team Alpha and MS.
2. We will start off Tuesday morning at the scene of the crime with Jane and Mike from the original Team Alpha. We are adding Myron, Peggy, John and Sammy to the team. In a couple of days we add Tom and Pia. Looking strong. Shout out to earlier team members Ruben, Tommy and Antonio.
3. 100 miles a day is the goal. Should be flatter terrain and of course a constant tail wind. Probably have lost a bit of fitness during the three month break but no less determination.
4. Lost a bit of time but gained a great deal of perspective. I’ll ask you to use your imagination to catch my drift. Nothing more sobering than that kind of a change of plan.
5. Tuesday is Kountzee to DeRidder, La. I will be glad to have Texas finally in the rear view mirror. Tuesday night some Cajun food. One of the people we met right prior to stopping in October recommended the best place for Boidin Balls. Of course.
6. Big shout out to the team at Beaumont Hospital.
7. In a couple of days we stop in New Orleans. Counting on oysters for some push. We will also be taking a ferry in Alabama. No concerns as we will all sit on our bikes while crossing the water.
Get ready for the finale to our incredible journey.
