Day 22
Big volume of miles today for Team Alpha. 116 total. Haven’t done that in a while. We were blessed with perfect weather and a nice tailwind for most of the day. We finished up and marked the spot with a cone. Then we drove into New Orleans for the evening. Will head back to the cone early in the morning. Huge day on tap for day 23 as we will try to get as close as we can to Gulfport, Ms. before dark. Friday should be a weather challenge with some very cool weather. Hope for the best.
1. Breakfast was plain this morning but lunch was interesting. Biggest servings I have ever seen. And a gaming parlor. All attached to a gas station. Amazing.
2. Biked across the Mississippi River today. Incredibly impressive. No sign of Huck.
3. Sugar cane being harvested everywhere. Plenty of scraps along the side of the road.
4. Fellow asked me where we were biking and where from. After a minute of back and forth he asked if that is how I got that funny mark on my face. In my best Igor voice I asked him what mark? Didn’t mention my hump..
5. Hard to come to New Orleans and not think of great horseman Jerome Robertson. Missed. By the way speaking of horses I was in Ocala last week and checked out the new footing. Excellent quality.
6. Some kind of game bbq seems to be a popular event. Can you name all the animals in the pot?
7. Did a bit of dirt road riding today. Some pretty areas.
8. Goodbye to Sammy. Great job. Hello to Pia and Tom. Welcome.
