STONE RIDGE, N.Y. — A decade ago, Michael Halstead was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord.
But the 56-year-old veterinarian said he has been extremely fortunate in working with specialists and being put on effective medication that has enabled him to continue competing in triathlons and marathons and “all sorts of silly athletic endeavors.” And now he and his friend, Thomas Struzzieri, plan to bicycle across the country to raise money for the National MS Society…
